Toolbox #1: But I don't have the skills...

Welcome to the very first Tentmaker’s Toolbox! 🥳 We've created this space because we understand the balancing act of being a modern 'tentmaker' - it's no easy journey.

Each week, we'll open up the toolbox to share with you carefully selected insights, advice, and resources to help lighten your load and make this path a bit smoother.

OK, let's jump in amigos.

🙅‍♂️ “But I don’t have the skills…”

You ever look at the digital world with its endless opportunities and feel overwhelmed? You're not alone. With so many ways to make money online, it's easy to feel like a ship lost at sea.

But you know what? The key isn't trying to seize every opportunity, but finding the one that suits YOU. You've got unique skills, experiences, and passions – and there's a place for them in the marketplace.

Think you don't have the skills? The good news: skills can be learned.

The world of tech/marketing/etc might seem intimidating, but remember, you've faced challenges before.

Think about the time you first stepped into your role as a church leader or business owner. Remember that initial wave of responsibility, the questions you had, the feeling of navigating uncharted territory?

But you faced it. You took those steps, you climbed that hill, and you grew into your role, right?

Over time, what initially seemed so daunting became part of your rhythm. You learned, you grew, you navigated the complexities, and you became the leader you are today.

This is just another mountain to climb, and you've got what it takes.

So, how about we flip the script? From "I don't have the skills" to "I can learn the skills". It's a simple shift in mindset, but it can transform your journey.

Today’s action plan:

  1. Reflect on your strengths: Take a moment to think about your unique skills, experiences, and passions. Identify what you naturally excel at or enjoy doing. This is your foundation.

  2. Identify an area to learn: Next, find an area in the digital landscape that aligns with your strengths and interests. Whether it's content creation, social media marketing, or paid advertising, focus on one area to start.

  3. Invest in learning: Commit to learning the skills needed for that area. This could mean taking an online course, reading a book, or even joining a mentorship program (our FB Ads Bootcamp is a great example of this). The key is to take consistent, small steps forward. Remember, every expert was once a beginner.
